Stack

An apartment recovery stack (2026)

Apartments fail on weight, leaks, and 20A circuits. The stack that survives is a blanket or nothing for heat, a panel for light, and a mat you can roll. A cold plunge is usually the thing you do not buy.

The beginner stack assumes you might own a floor. This page assumes a lease, a neighbor, and an elevator. Gear that needs a slab is a different life. See the garage guide when you get one.

What can live here

  • Heat: a sauna blanket on a circuit the listing actually uses. Not a 2 kW cabin.
  • Light: a budget panel or a flagship tile if the habit exists. It hangs or stands. It does not leak.
  • Downshift: a PEMF mat if you have floor space and you accept the weight when you move.
  • Cold: showers, a gym, or a bag of ice you are willing to stop using. Not a 1,150 lb tub.

What to skip until you have a building

  • Plunge All-In-class fill weights and balcony fantasies. How to choose.
  • Infrared cabins. Even a one-person box is a crate, a circuit, and a landlord. Choose a sauna.
  • Morozko, outdoor pads, and anything with a drain through a ceiling.

Order of operations

  1. Train the habit at a gym sauna or plunge if one exists. Confirm you care.
  2. Add the cheapest item you will use four days a week. Often light or a blanket.
  3. Add a mat only if evenings need a floor ritual and the elevator can take it on move-out day.
  4. Revisit tubs and cabins when the lease is not the spec.
