- Skip if
- Budget is a chest-freezer conversation, or you only want 39°F and nothing else.

Morozko is the ice-capable, build-in-place cold plunge for people who want water that can freeze at the surface. That is a different machine class than a 37°F chiller tub. It is here so we can say: buy it for ice, not because a podcast said “forge.” Skip it as a first plunge.

How we scored home cold plunges
The job is hold a chosen temperature at home. We weighted published setpoint (and whether ice is required), sanitation that a household will actually do, electrical reality (120V 15A vs 240V vs “we’ll see”), warranty length and exclusions, and a skip-if you can use at checkout.
- Temperature control: a documented chiller setpoint beats a bag of ice — unless the buyer wants ice.
- Ownership weight: filters, ozone, freeze protection, and pad requirements.
- Warranty honesty: years on the PDF, not years in an ad.
- Failure mode: what happens in a 100°F garage in July, or a 20°F garage in January.

Chiller vs ice is the whole category
If you will not buy ice twice a week in August, you are shopping chillers. If you will, Ice Barrel and a stock tank are rational. Brands that blur this — “ice bath” in the headline, 55°F in the fine print — get a skip.
Published 37°F is a common residential chiller floor (Plunge All-In, many 0.75 HP units). Ice is colder. Colder is not automatically better, and it is definitely not a disease protocol. Start with how to start cold plunging at home before you buy Morozko because a clip showed ice.
Electrical is the hidden SKU
Dedicated 120V/15A is the All-In story. Dual-temp and larger chillers wander into 20A or 240V. Outdoor GFCI, drip loops, and a pad that does not pond matter more than the colorway. If your garage circuit already runs a freezer and a charger, budget an electrician before you budget a tub.
Sanitation is half the product
Ozone, UV, 20-micron filters, and bromine/chlorine options are how you avoid a science project. Public filter micron ratings beat “self-cleaning” copy. If a brand will not say how water stays clear for 30 days of family use, it is a kiddie pool.
Read the freeze and chemistry exclusions
Plunge’s published residential sheet is one year, with freeze and chemistry carve-outs. Renu publicly emphasizes a longer limited term. Neither is a lab certification. A warranty is an ownership document. Read it like you would a mini-split.
