Comparison
Hooga vs PlatinumLED (2026)
Hooga is the direct-priced 660/850 lesson, with an Ultra tier that adds peaks. PlatinumLED BIOMAX is the 7-wavelength panel at a higher public tag, including blue and 1060 nm. More peaks are a spec. They are not a result.

This is the fight under the flagship panel ranking, where Mito and Joovv still lead for different reasons. Hooga and PlatinumLED are what people buy when they want a body panel without those badges. On September 23, 2026, Hooga’s PRO300 was $299, PRO750 $599, PRO1500 $1,199. PlatinumLED’s BIOMAX 600 page listed $1,049. Same sentence, different coverage. Match size before you match brand.
Public brand pages, September 23, 2026. Irradiance method is still the thing we will not invent. Confirm the generation name.
| Dimension | Hooga PRO / ULTRA | PlatinumLED BIOMAX |
|---|---|---|
| Wavelength story | PRO: 660 and 850 nm. ULTRA adds a four-peak set the brand lists as 630, 660, 810, 850 nm | Seven peaks on the BIOMAX page: 480, 630, 660, 810, 830, 850, 1060 nm |
| Mid-size public price | PRO750 at $599; ULTRA750 at $799 | BIOMAX 600 at $1,049 |
| Entry public price | HG series from $149; PRO from $299; ULTRA360 at $399 | 600-class is the comparison we could price; smaller and larger SKUs exist |
| Warranty on the page | 3-year on panels; 60-day returns with return shipping deducted from the refund | 3-year claimed on the BIOMAX page. Confirm the current trial window; it has moved before |
| What you are not buying | A spectroradiometer report from us | A clinical outcome because the page says Class II |
Wavelengths are not a scoreboard
The papers people actually cite still cluster on red and near-infrared, especially 660 and 850 nm. Hooga PRO stays on that pair and says so. ULTRA adds neighbors. BIOMAX adds those plus 480 nm (blue) and 1060 nm. Blue is a different eye and skin conversation than a recovery panel. A longer list is not proof of a better session. Dose, distance, and whether you stand there still dominate. The method piece is the irradiance buyer’s guide.
Who each brand is for
Buy Hooga if you have not done a timed ten-minute habit, or if a $599 PRO750 will teach you whether you stand still. The budget ranking already treats Hooga as the first panel on purpose: best budget red light panels. Buy BIOMAX if you want the 7-wave hardware, you have compared irradiance methods instead of the biggest milliwatt number, and the extra few hundred dollars is not the household argument. Buy Mito or Joovv instead if modular walls or Mito’s measurement tables were the original job — Joovv vs Mito.
Class II is not a result
PlatinumLED’s page uses medical-device and high-irradiance language. Hooga’s page says FDA-cleared for general wellness and then lists skin, sleep, and performance in marketing cadence. Neither sentence is a Recoveracent outcome. We did not spectrometer these panels. We will not tell you a panel treats a condition. Safety rails: how to use red light therapy safely.
